Ian McCormack

Glympse Of Eternity:

Is there life after death?

One night while diving for lobster on the small Island of Mauritius near New Zealand, Ian McCormack was stung by five deadly jellyfish of the kind that are among the most venomous creatures on Earth. By the time an ambulance arrived his body was totally paralyzed and necrosis had begun to set into his bone marrow. On route to the hospital, Ian began to see his life flash before him. At this point in his life he was an atheist and he wasn’t sure what death would bring. As he lay there dying, he saw his mother in a vision praying for him, encouraging him to cry out to God from his heart so that He would hear and forgive him (his mother was the only Christian in his family.) After being taken to the hospital, Ian died for approximately 15 - 20 minutes and had an extraordinary near-death experience.

Thank you for helping us preach the Gospel.

FAITHLIFT CHURCH can accomplish the vision God through your faithful giving. The Scripture declares “Money answereth all things”. While we know there’s much more to life than money, finance is one of the most powerful tools to reach the lost sinners and teach the saints with the Word of God.

4 simple steps to salvation

Jesus Died for You

1. ADMIT- that you are a sinner. It is not what you have done, but the position you were born in.

Psalms 51:5; “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.”

2. REPENTANCE - a change of heart , change of mind, change of direction. Repentance doesn’t just mean saying you are sorry, it means making a CHANGE in your life.

Mark 2:17;” When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

3. ACCEPT - Jesus Christ as your personal Savior

Romans 10:9,10; “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation.”

4. Pray, read, and obey the Word of God daily.

Word of the Week

Open Bible

Striving for Masteries

2 Timothy 2: 3* Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

4* No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may pl

ease him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

5* And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.

Mastery means to have full command or understanding of a subject

It means to have outstanding skill; expertise , the power of command; control victory or superiority so as to win when you are engaged in a 1. contest, 2. contending in public games, 3. contending for a prize

“ First is first, second is nothing!” Bill Shankley

“ Second is first loser!” Dale Earnhardt

I Corinthians 9: 24* ¶ Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

25* And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

To win in life we must become masters.

1. Master your thought life

2. Master your emotions

3. Master your will

Mastering your thought life

Proverbs 23: 7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee

develop-your-mind

You are the result of your thought life. You change your thoughts and in no time you will change your life. What keeps people down is not the colour of their skin, where they were born or the language they speak. It is all in the mindset. They say the difference between a rich man and a poor man is in the way they think.

You need to master your thought life. Stop thinking on negatives and on impossibilities

. Think positively and on possibilities. The biggest warfare is in your mind. The Apostle Paul encourages us by saying’ “fight the good fight of faith.” It is a good fight. You can do it. I want to encourage you, “you can do it.” You can master your thought life. You know how I know? Because I did it. If I can, I know you can. There are times when negative, unwholesome thoughts arise in my mind. I speak out loud to myself and say “No!’ and I change my thought. It is hard at first. However, the more you do it the better and easier it gets. It is a continual training exercise. You will not get there in one day. Rome wasn’t built in a day neither will your thought life. Keep slugging it out.

2 Corinthians 10: 4* (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty throu

gh God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

5* Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Very often people discourage their friends from going to a certain church. They say things like, “Don’t go there; they will brainwash you!”. Family, that is what it is all about. Getting your brain washed. Changing your stinking thinking.

Philippians 4: 8* Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Mastering your emotions

Proverbs 16:32* ¶ He that is slow to anger is better than the mi

ghty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

Emotion is Energy-in-Motion. It is a way of expressing yourself in life. Energy is the capacity to function.

There are two types of emotions: Negative and Positive. emotion

Some negative emotions are: grief, fear, hatred, shame, blame, anger, envy, discouragement

Some positive emotions are love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, self control, laughter, enthusiams, optimism, action, power, courage.

The greatest enemy of success is negative emotion of all kinds.

Negative emotions have done more harm than any plagues of history. When you let a negative emotion control and dominate you, your capacity to function is reduced. You feel low and incapable.

Philippians 4:13* I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

The Bible recounts the story of King David going through a very bad time. He did not stay down.

1 Samuel 30:6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

Negative emotions well up when we go through distressing times. We need to encourage ourselves. God will not overcome these emotions for you, you have to do it yourself. When Moses died, the whole of Israel were in mourning. God appeared to Joshua and three times commanded him to be strong and of a good courage. In other words he had to master his emotions of fear and discouragement to be the next great leader.

You can do it as well. You have the kahuna to do it.

Mastering your will

Will - to do the right thing. Will - not to give up and quit.

Become strong willed.

Discipline your will. will-power-3

Don’t be ruled by your urges. Rule over it.

Say to yourself, “I will not smoke, I will not get angry, I will not watch this x rated movie.”

Confession

When I drop my kids off to school, I tell them to make this confession.

Father God

Thank you for today

This is the day that you have made

I will rejoice and be glad in it

You are an awesome God,

A great and mighty God,

You are Elohim, the creator

Yahweh the Great I AM

El shaddai the One that can reverse the law of nature

You are the Ancient of days

The Lily of the valley

The Balm of Gilead

The Rock of Ages

The Rose of Sharon

The Cedar of Lebannon

The Prince of Peace

Lord of lords

King of kings

The Alpha and Omega

The First and the Last

The One who Is, Was and Is to come

Praise you Lord

Thank you for the cross

Thank you for the blood

Thank you for your Holy Spirit

I am an ace

I am a champion

I am a winner in life

I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.

My mind is alert

My emotions are stable

My will is strong

I am blessed and highly favoured

Angels are watching over me

They are bearing me up in their hands

Lest I dash my foot against a stone

I’m Blessed at home

Blessed at school (outside)

Whatever my hands find to do prospers

Wherever my feet tread belongs to me

No weapon formed against can prosper

Every tongue that rise against me I condemn.

The curse is broken

The drought is over

My future is bright

I am wealthy, healthy and wise.

In the Mighty Name of Jesus

AMEN

Let these be your confession and becoming.

About

 Step into your destiny!

Faithlift Church is a non-denominational, thriving congregation with a heart  to reach the entire family, young and old alike by expressing God’s love and to help them find a relationship with the Lord Jesus. From vibrant praise, intimacy in worship, the teaching of the uncompromising Word of God to serving the community, our church strives for excellence in ministry through the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

Our Core Values

Worship

Worship not just in songs but by making our life as an act of love, devotion and commitment to God. To love and worship God is man’s highest calling“So dear Brothers and sisters I plead with to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice- the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship”. Romans 12:1

Ministry

To build a place of restoration and healing, a place of new beginnings, where you can learn to apply God’s Word in a practical way to every situation in your life.“You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others.” 2 Timothy 2:2

Discipleship

Discipleship is growing more and more to be in the image of Jesus. God did not call us to make converts – but disciples!“You are truly my disciples, if you remain faithful to my teachings.” John 8:31

What we believe?

The program and activities governing the conduct of Faithlift Church are based upon, and at all times shall be consistent with, the following creed and beliefs:

1. THE SCRIPTURES:
The Bible is the inspired word of God, the product of Holy Men of old who spoke and wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. The New Covenant as recorded in the New Testament, we accept as our infallible guide in matters pertaining to conduct and doctrine. (II Tim. 3:16. I Thess.2:13, II Peter1:21).

2. THE GODHEAD:
Our God is One, but manifested in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, being co-equal.
God the Father is greater than all, the Source of the Word (Logos) and the Begetter (John 14:28 , John 16:28 , John 1:14 ).
The Son is the Word of flesh-covered, the One Begotten, and has existed with the Father from the beginning (John 1:1, John 1:18 , John 1:14 ).
The Holy Spirit proceeds forth from both the Father and the Son and is eternal (John 15:16 ).

3. MAN, HIS FALL AND REDEMPTION:
Man is a created being, made in the likeness and image of God, but through Adam’s transgression and fall, sin came into the world. “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” “As it is written, there is none righteous, no not one.” Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was manifested to undo the work of the devil and gave His life and shed His blood to redeem and restore man back to God. Romans 5:12, Romans 3:23, Romans 3:10, John 3:8).
Salvation is a gift from God to man, separate from the works and the law, and is made operative by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, producing works acceptable to God. (Ephesians 2:18).

4. ETERNAL LIFE AND NEW BIRTH:
Man’s first step toward salvation is Godly sorrow that worketh repentance. The new birth is necessary to all men, and when fulfilled, produces eternal life. (II Cor.7:10, I John 5:12, John 3:3-5).

5. WATER BAPTISM:
Baptism in water is by immersion and is a direct commandment of our Lord, and is for believers only. The ordinance is a symbol of the Christian’s identification with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection. (Matt. 28:19, Romans 6:4, Col. 2:12, Acts 8:36 -39).
The following recommendation regarding the Water Baptismal formula is adopted, to wit:
“On the confession of your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and by His authority, I baptize you in the name of the Father, Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.”

6. BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT:
The Baptism in the Holy Spirit and Fire is a gift from God as promised by the Lord Jesus Christ to all believers in this dispensation and is received subsequent to the new birth. This experience is accompanied by the initial evidence of the speaking in other tongues as the Holy Spirit himself gives utterance. (Matt.3: 11, John 14:16-17, Acts 1:8, Acts 2: 38-39, Acts 19:1-7, Acts 2:4).

7. SANCTIFICATION:
The Bible teaches that without Holiness no man can see the Lord. We believe in the doctrine of Sanctification as a definite, yet progressive work of grace, commencing at the time of regeneration and continuing until the consummation of Salvation. (Heb.12:14, I Thess. 5:23, II Peter 3:18, II Cor. 3:18, Phil. 3:12-14, I Cor. 1:30).

8. DIVINE HEALING:
Healing is for physical ills of the human body and is wrought by the power of God through the prayer of faith, of the laying on of hands. It is provided for in Christ’s redemption for us, and it is the privilege of every member of the church today. (Mark 16:18, James 5:14-15, I Peter 2:24, Matt. 8:17, Isa. 53:4-5).

9. RESURRECTION OF THE JUST AND THE RETURN OF OUR LORD:
The angels said, “This same Jesus shall so come in like manner.” His coming is imminent. When He comes, “The dead in Christ shall rise first; then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air.” (Acts1: 1-11, I Thess. 4:16-17).

10. HELL AND ETERNAL RETRIBUTION:
The one who physically dies in his sins without Christ is hopelessly and eternally lost in the lake of fire and, therefore, has no further opportunity of hearing the Gospel or for repentance. The lake of fire is literal. The terms “eternal” and “everlasting” used in describing the duration of the punishment of the damned in the lake of fire, carry the same thought and meaning of endless existence as used in noting the duration of joy and ecstasy in the saints in the presence of God. (Heb 9:27, Rev 19:20).

11. THE ORDINANCE OF THE LORD’S SUPPER:
The ordinance of the Lord’s Supper shall be observed regularly as enjoined in the Scriptures (Luke 22:19-20, I Cor. 11:23-26).
